Phlebectomy

Definition

Phlebectomy involves the removal of individual veins through a series of very small incisions with specialized hooks and clamps. This is done under local anesthesia and is typically used on varicose veins, at, or near the skin’s surface. The incisions are closed with a special strip. Phlebectomy may be used in conjunction with Sclerotherapy or EVLT™, to treat any remaining varicose veins.

The advantages of Phlebectomy are permanent vein removal with virtually no scarring, no skin discoloration or ulcers. Unfortunately not all veins can be treated this way.
