Healthcare Foundation Completes Makeover

Nearly 100 Volunteers Help Complete Margaret Cramer Free Clinic Renovation

On Monday, April 30th, The Iowa Clinic Healthcare Foundation finished its Extreme Makeover of the Margaret Cramer Free Clinic.

With the help of nearly 100 volunteers from The Iowa Clinic, Ryan Companies, Commonwealth Electric and Baker Mechanical, the Free Clinic was completely renovated. The facility now has two exam rooms, a new lab area and dedicated space for the physicians and nurses to do their charting and paperwork. The Margaret Cramer Free Medical Clinic is located in the basement of the First Assembly of God Church on Merle Hay Road and has been open for eleven years providing primary healthcare service to the uninsured and underinsured in the community.

This is the third Extreme Makeover completed by The Iowa Clinic Healthcare Foundation. The Mae E. Davis Free Medical Clinic in West Des Moines was remodeled in 2005 and the Ronald McDonald House kitchen and dining area was remodeled in 2006. The Foundation is a not-for-profit branch of The Iowa Clinic and is committed to building healthy communities here in Central Iowa.
