The Iowa Clinic offers a convenient online schedule for virtual visits, guaranteeing your time with an available Iowa Clinic provider. With same-day and next-day appointments available, you get peace of mind knowing you can quickly see an Iowa Clinic provider from the comfort of your home.

Please note: You must be located in Iowa to schedule a virtual visit.

How it works:

  1. Schedule a virtual visit with The Iowa Clinic Primary Care Provider of your choice using our online virtual visit schedule or by calling 515.875.9000. For Specialty virtual visits, you’ll need to schedule directly with your specialist, either by calling the Clinic or scheduling online (available for select specialties).
  2.  Complete your pre-visit check-in prior to your appointment.
  3. When it is time for your appointment, you will receive a link via text or email (whichever you selected) to join the appointment.
  4. Begin your virtual visit with your Iowa Clinic provider.

Through the convenience of online video, we provide consultations, answer medical questions, diagnose illnesses, provide ongoing disease management and evaluate injuries.

  • Each visit is up to 15 minutes
  • Virtual visits are staffed only by Iowa Clinic providers
  • Virtual visits are available during normally scheduled clinic hours and by appointment only for specialty providers
  • The Iowa Clinic will bill the insurance you have on file. If you have no insurance, you will be financially responsible for your visit.

Before You Get Started with Virtual Care: 

  • All patients (established and new) may schedule an virtual visit using this link
  • This new service is available for patients age 18 and older or ages birth-17 with an adult present.
  • You must have a working webcam and microphone.
  • You must be physically located in the state of Iowa.
  • For participating specialty providers, you must first call the provider's office to schedule a virtual visit appointment.

The Day of Your Virtual Visit

  • You must complete pre-visit check-in prior to your appointment. You will receive instructions via email or text, depending on what you choose.
  • When it is time for your appointment, you will receive a link via text or email (whichever you selected) to join the appointment.

IMPORTANT: Web-based consults require Google Chrome or Firefox. When using Virtual Care on your mobile device, please use only Chrome on Android and only Safari on iPhone. 

If you’re using an Apple iPhone, be sure to have headphones ready – issues with iOs compatibility may limit sound quality, so this will ensure you are able to hear your provider and your provider can hear you!

FAQs

  • How much does this service cost?

    At this time there is no up-front fee for a virtual visit. The Iowa Clinic will bill the insurance you have on file. If you have no insurance, you will be financially responsible for your visit.

  • What if I'm not feeling better?

    If your condition does not improve after your visit to The Iowa Clinic, you will need to schedule an office visit with your primary care provider.

  • Can I be treated for two conditions at once?

    We can treat you for multiple symptoms related to a single condition during one visit.

    For two separate conditions or symptoms such as acne and flu, we will require separate visits to treat each condition separately. IMPORTANT: You will be charged for each visit.

  • What types of prescriptions can you prescribe?

    Medications to treat and reduce symptoms for most common medical conditions can be prescribed during a virtual visit and may include antibiotics, antiviral or other over-the-counter and prescription-strength medications. (example: narcotics)

  • Can I use the virtual visit to refill a prescription?

    Yes. We can provide prescription refills for you until your provider can see you in the office.
