Watch the videos to hear their stories.

Rise Up North Des Moines

Follow Up

$20,000

Funding will be used to support students enrolled at Harding Middle School. While this North Des Moines community faces some staggering statistics, the Principal and teachers have worked hard to focus on what the kids have as opposed to what they don’t have. The Rise Up Iowa grant will help provide additional food resources for students and help kids realize the positive benefits of being involved in sports and other extracurricular activities.

Metro West Mentoring Program

Follow Up

$5,000

Metro West Learning Academy serves as an alternative high school for 6 western suburbs/communities. (Dallas Center Grimes, Adel, Saydel, Urbandale, Johnston and Waukee). Many of the students attending the Academy are either homeless, parenting or suffer from an emotional or behavioral disorder. Nearly all of these students are considered food insecure. A majority of the Rise Up Iowa funding will be used to purchase food and personal care items for the students. Dollars will also be allocated to provide clothing vouchers for the kids so they have something appropriate to wear to a job or job interview.

Waukee Community Closet is designed to benefit students and families in need within the Waukee community and surrounding areas. This volunteer organization accepts clothing donations and provides the items to students and families in need.
