Our History

The Iowa Clinic Healthcare Foundation formed in 2004. Our physicians felt it was important to mobilize and pay it forward in a meaningful way. The Board of Directors determined that all initiatives would focus on healthcare and giving back to the communities we serve here in Central Iowa.

Extreme Makeovers of Free Medical Clinics: 

From 2004-2016 we partnered with Free Clinics of Iowa to renovate seven Free Medical Clinics in the Des Moines Metro. This project allowed us to transform temporary medical clinics in church basements and community centers into permanent, more modern clinics. We wanted to create an atmosphere that provided dignity to those in need of free healthcare.

Rise Up Iowa: 

From 2016-2018 we shifted our focus to the Rise Up Iowa grant program. We invited the community to tell us how they would rise up and make a difference. The response was overwhelming. We received 200-plus grant applications in two years. We were able to pay it forward with $185,000 to ten amazing programs. Learn more about our recipients (2016 recipients & 2017 recipients).
