COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 Travel and Pre-Op Testing

The Iowa Clinic provides Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) COVID-19 testing for those not experiencing symptoms. This is most commonly used for travel, pre-op or return-to-work/school and asymptomatic testing.

Testing is by appointment only and is administered at 7147 Vista Drive in West Des Moines. Results are available one to two business days after your test. Note: test results will not be provided on Sundays. Learn more about what to expect for your asymptomatic COVID-19 test.

We are no longer offering COVID-19 symptomatic testing at this location. Patients can visit Urgent Care in West Des Moines or Ankeny for COVID-19 symptomatic testing (and must wear a mask if symptoms are present).

Tests We Provide

We provide the following COVID-19 tests:

  • PCR: A throat swab with results that come in 24-48 hours
  • Rapid Antigen: Nasal swab
  • Antibody: A blood test to detect COVID-19 antibodies, results available in 24-48 hours (Urgent Care only)

What to Expect During your Testing Appointment

When scheduling your COVID-19 testing appointment, you MUST:

  1. Have a mobile phone with SMS text capabilities or an email address
  2. Have a valid driver’s license or form of identification

Once you confirm your appointment, you will receive a text message or email with check-in information. The online check-in process is mandatory in order for our staff to complete your testing at your scheduled time.

If you feel this is a true medical emergency, call 9-1-1 or visit your nearest emergency room (call on your way).

Pre-operative Testing

Scheduled for a procedure that requires pre-operative COVID-19 testing? Visit this page for details on what to expect once your provider schedules your testing appointment. NOTE: Weekend testing will have a delay in results.

FollowMyHealth Portal Account

Please note that patients are asked to create a FollowMyHealth (FMH) portal account when completing the pre-visit check-in. This is mandatory when getting tested at Augusta.

The account allows patients to manage their care, connect with a provider, request appointments and view test or lab results.

You can access the portal on our website or download the app for 24/7 access to your personal information. Learn more and create your account.

If your child is one day through 11 years old, you’ll need to complete the FMH Parental/Guardian Access Application. This takes 3-5 days to complete and allows parental access to portal benefits. If you or your child is age 12 to 17, due to state regulations, we are unable to make medical records accessible via the FMH portal.
