Where To Go For Care

It can be hard to know your options when it comes to getting the care you need. At The Iowa Clinic, we want to ensure you know where to go when you’re feeling sick or simply need routine care.

We define “well” as anyone who is not experiencing infectious symptoms. You can be seen for conditions such as rashes, UTIs, non-emergent pain, etc. during our normal clinic hours.

Close contact, as defined by the CDC:

  • You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period
  • You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19
  • You had direct physical contact with the person (hugged or kissed them)
  • You shared eating or drinking utensils
  • They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you

An established patient is defined as someone who has seen an Iowa Clinic OBGYN, Urgent Care or Primary Care provider since January 1, 2018.

Feeling under the weather? You can also book a reservation with our West Des Moines or Ankeny Urgent Care, where you can be seen for illness in addition to things like x-rays, labs and stitches. Rest assured extra precautions are always taken to keep you safe.

Well What does this mean?

If you haven’t had close contact with a known positive patient and/or you’re not experiencing any symptoms, you can schedule your appointment as normal. As long as you’re not experiencing possible COVID-19 symptoms and you haven’t been exposed, you can be seen during normal clinic hours.

If you have had close contact with a known positive patient and you’re experiencing symptoms or you’re just experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, we offer testing for established patients through our Mobile Testing Center. If you need to be seen and tested based on your symptoms, you can schedule a reservation with our West Des Moines or Ankeny Urgent Care.
