Wesley Acres and The Iowa Clinic to Serve Greater Community
JOHNSTON, Iowa – February 20, 2017 – WesleyLife, Iowa's most comprehensive provider of housing, care, and services for older adults, and The Iowa Clinic, the largest physician owned multi-specialty group in Central Iowa, will host an open house Thursday, March 2, to mark the opening of The Iowa Clinic location at Wesley Acres. This event is open to the public.
The Iowa Clinic Primary Care location – housed inside Wesley Acres, WesleyLife's flagship Community for Healthy Living in Des Moines – will begin accepting patients Tuesday, February 28. This location is open to the public as well as to residents of Wesley Acres.
Danney Drewry, D.O., an Internal Medicine provider with The Iowa Clinic, will see patients Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Rob Kretzinger, CEO of WesleyLife, said the opening of The Iowa Clinic will help WesleyLife fulfill its ongoing mission to help older adults remain independent, no matter where they call home.
“Having The Iowa Clinic on-site will be extremely convenient for our residents, but it's also our goal to consistently reach beyond our four walls into the communities we serve,” Kretzinger said. “Our responsibility to the Des Moines community doesn't stop at the door. We're looking forward to becoming a trusted ally and provider of needed services to the individuals who drive and walk past Wesley Acres every day.”
Edward Brown, CEO of The Iowa Clinic, said the clinic is a first-of-its-kind model for the organization and marks the eighth primary care clinic in the Metro.
“Because of our dedication to quality care and our commitment to providing an exceptional patient experience, we are pleased to add this new community location. We are also proud of our long-standing partnership with WesleyLife and we look forward this collaboration,” Brown said.
Dr. Drewry's clinical interests include preventive health, diabetes, heart disease, thyroid disorders, COPD, and the use of exercise and nutrition to prevent and treat chronic illnesses. Local residents and WesleyLife residents can transfer care to Dr. Drewry as their primary care provider. Dr. Drewry is also willing to see patients who have already established primary care physicians.
