Two family medicine physicians return to practice at the newest The Iowa Clinic location in Indianola.

After nearly a year of planning and preparation, Family Medicine physicians Jerry Lehr, D.O., and Michael Sutcliffe, D.O., have returned to practice at The Iowa Clinic's newest location in Indianola.

The appointment calendar began filling up weeks before The Iowa Clinic's newest location opened last week at 1504 North 1st Street in Indianola. It's no wonder — residents throughout Warren County have known Dr. Jerry Lehr and Dr. Michael Sutcliffe for decades as both physicians are active members of the community.

Along with partner Yulia (Asner) Johnson, D.O., the location's three-physician team is “very like-minded. Our shared desire has been to create a more intimate, personal setting where our whole staff gets to know patients well,” says Dr. Lehr, who for the past year has worked in Emergency Medicine at the Knoxville Hospital. “The people in Indianola are our friends. The Iowa Clinic has the infrastructure that lets us spend more time caring for their unique needs and less time on paperwork.”

As a resident of Indianola since 1987, Lehr says, “I'm thrilled to rejoin Indianola's already excellent medical community. My goal is that we all work cohesively for the benefit of Warren County.”

Dr. Sutcliffe, who recently served as Medical Director at the Norwalk Free Clinic and as administrative Medical Director for a Des Moines firm, is also enthusiastic about providing highly individualized healthcare to area residents.

“After being away from Indianola for a year, I have never felt more excited to return and to work with my patients again,” Sutcliffe says.

While many primary care locations are going the way of strictly urgent (or walk-in) care, Drs. Lehr, Sutcliffe, and Johnson believe the best way to personalize and provide exceptional care is to get to know patients and their families well. Therefore, they see patients by appointment. However, they reserve early-morning and late-afternoon appointments each day to care for urgent needs. “This model allows patients to see their own physician the vast majority of the time, even for urgent care,” Sutcliffe adds.

On a personal note, Dr. Lehr adds, “My wife and I chose to live in Indianola because of its small-town feel, great school system, college and athletic teams, proximity to Des Moines, and excellent medical community. I'm so happy to be practicing here again.”

To make an appointment with Dr. Lehr, Dr. Sutcliffe, or Dr. Johnson, please call 515-875-9000.

Walk-in urgent care is available from 7−8:30 a.m. and 4−5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
