Patient Information

The Iowa Clinic Palliative Care services are only offered to current Iowa Clinic patients.

Current Iowa Clinic Patients: If you are a current patient and seeking Palliative Care services, please contact your Iowa Clinic Primary Care or Specialty provider for a referral.

Not an Iowa Clinic Patient: If you are NOT a current patient but would like to be, please call 515.875.9000 to schedule an appointment with an Iowa Clinic provider in order to use our Palliative Care services.

Palliative Care is most effective when services are initiated early in your illness, before hospitalizations or times of medical crisis. Palliative Care is an extra layer of support to you, your providers, and your family/caregiver(s). Palliative Care services are available to people of all ages.

Unlike Hospice Care, Palliative Care can be provided simultaneously with curative/aggressive treatments, at any stage of your illness.

Palliative Care is available to treat life-limiting medical conditions including but not limited to:

  • Chronic Lung Diseases such as COPD
  • Heart Disease such as Congestive Heart Failure
  • Kidney Disease
  • Liver Disease
  • Cancer
  • Neurological disorders such as Parkinson's Disease, MS, ALS
