“After everything I’ve been through, Dr. Lekkas brought back what cancer took away. Because of him, I feel whole again.” – Heather, breast cancer survivor
Dr. Reece and Staff,
My daughter, Hannah, had breast reduction surgery last August. Today is her 20th birthday and I wanted to send you a note to thank you for everything that you did last summer for her.
Last year at this time we were unsure if she would be able to finish her finals for freshman year. Today, she is healthy, happy and sailing through her sophomore year. It is truly amazing – her back pain 100% gone and she has resumed all activities she did before her surgery. As a parent, I am so thankful to you for giving her the gift of a strong and healthy body. She loves life again and is thriving at Denver.
Thank you so much – your care, nurses, staff are the best.
You are a special person, and I want to “thank you” for your wonderful care and concern for me especially when things didn’t go as we planned.
I did finally get a hug and I’ll see you in September.
Dear Dr. Schurman & Carol:
Just a note to say thank you once again. This will definitely be the only time I say this in a Christmas card, but I really love my breast – so thank you!
I hope all is well with you and best wishes for 2008. - Jackie
Dr. Reece & Staff,
Thank you for the extreme care and compassion with my surgery. Words can’t describe how this has changed my life! Again you and your staff (Trudi) are Angels.
Thank you for changing my life! – Tracy
Thank you for everything. Although I was very lucky that my cancer was benign, my post-op complications last summer, along with being in a new country and away from family , were very stressful. Your kindness and understanding were greatly appreciated.
Thank you and best wishes,
I want to thank you for everything you did for me. I really appreciated your concern, thoroughness and patience through my healing process. I always felt you were looking out for my best interest in my recovery. Thank you again for everything.
Dear Dr. Reece,
On June 13, 2009, our one year old son, Jack, tripped on unsteady feet and fell into the corner of his dresser, slicing open tender skin just above his left eye through the eyebrow. While there are far more traumatic and serious things that can happen to a child, the situation was upsetting to my husband and I.
We ended up at Blank Children’s Hospital ER due to the severity of the injury. Our referring physician said we would want an experienced plastic surgeon to complete the stitches. We were so blessed that you were on call that day. Your expertise, skill and calming disposition were just what we needed.
We want to share with you the amazing healing Jack has experienced in one year’s time. His scar is barely noticeable and his face as adorable as ever.
Thank you for the amazing results you created for Jack and all of the patients under your care. We are so grateful!
Amy & John
Oh my dear Shari,
You are the best nurse ever! Your heart is full of compassion and you were the sunshine of my days in the office.
Keep this “hugs” in a place where you can see it often as a reminder of how special you are to your patients.
God bless you.
Dear Dr. Lekkas,
We can’t thank you enough for taking such good care of Karina! We truly appreciate everything you’ve done for her. Thank you for driving to the hospital during the ice storm to stitch her face.
Kirk, Trisha & Karina
A huge thank you for all of your special care, concerns and kindness you have shown to me during my ?detour in life?! You have been great from day one and have made all of this easier to bear.
I just want you to know how special you are to us. The passion you have for your career and the devotion you show to breast cancer patients is amazing! You have helped Curt and I through some very dark days.
This prayer was a “staple” during my cancer journey days. It works for all situations in life. It’s my daily reminder to let go of the things I have no control over.
God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much for your care and compassion. Barb said you were great to work with and very caring. I understand why she gave such wonderful recommendations! I feel grateful to have such great surgical success.
Thank you for everything,
I wanted to let you know how important you have been in my life for the past few months. I feel extremely fortunate to have Dr. Lekkas with his gifted hands and realize that I am just as fortunate for your gifted spirit. The best part is, I don’t think you realize that you have had such an impact on my life, so I wanted to stroke your ego a little. I only hope that you continue to pass your “gift” to others as they enter your life the way you have mine. Thank you,
What a wonderful and caring person you are. God gave you a special gift, and I’ve been so lucky to have been able to receive some of that wonderful care.
Thank you Angie for being there for me!! -Sharon
After the agonizing decision to look into breast reconstruction, I was a bit discouraged after speaking with a few Plastic Surgeons in the surrounding area. I never had the degree of comfort I felt was necessary to go through such an arduous process.
My life changed the moment I met Dr. Lester Yen. I found Dr. Yen to be very pleasant, honest, and at the top of his profession. He was knowledgeable and able to explain on my level. He listened and understood my frustrations, as well as my concerns. He explained every procedure, every option, and did not fill me full of false hopes and expectations.
The outcome has been more than I ever could have hoped for or imagined. I can now look at myself in the mirror and see a woman, not the Bride of Frankenstein.
Dr. Yen has an excellent staff supporting him. Joni, Dr. Yen’s surgical nurse, was always diligent, always kind, warm, and had a way of putting you at ease. Joyce, the always smiling, efficient, caring front office personnel and Carol, whose warmth and finishing touches are the ultimate!
Without these four special and gifted people, I would not be the woman I am today. I will always be eternally grateful that I made that office visit.
Thank you so much for your care and excellent skills. I felt very fortunate to have a personal recommendation from my sister and understand how she enjoyed her work experience with you. You have given me a better quality of life.
On March 28, 2008 we are remembering that I was struck by lightning 20 years ago. We want to again thank you for what you did for me then and in the 20 years since that. I have a good life and am satisfied with how I am doing.
Minnie & Dale
Thank you so much for everything. I couldn’t be happier!! I thought I would share my favorite bottle of wine with you. It’s the least I can do for everything you did for me.
For my “dear” Dr. Yen:
I can’t begin to put into words what a horrific time we had! And there is no one else I could have shared it with. You have proven to me that quality medical care can still exist and a wonderful bedside manner can make a patient feel welcome, warm and trusting.
My love goes out to you, your family and personnel. Dr. Yen, I again thank you for all you do!!
Dear Dr. Schurman,
Thank you for being such an amazingly kind professional and gifted surgeon. I cannot be more pleased with my new smaller breasts and was indeed lucky to have you as my surgeon.
I want to thank you for believing in me! I’m lucky to have a doctor like you knowing that you believe in me, and not turning your back on me when things seemed like we weren’t getting anywhere. It’s nice that I have you believing in me. Thank you very, very much! -Lynn
When someone says you’ve got breast cancer, fear is the first thing that comes to mind. Then you are consumed with what action you should take. Decisions need to be made. What surgeon, what oncologist, what plastic surgeon if you choose reconstruction. I wish there were a program guide to tell you all the things you need to know. I wish you could shop for these people as you would for a new chair. I consider myself a do-it yourself kind of girl, and so I wanted to do my own homework, and choose the team I thought would suit me best. Not the least of which is the team of Dr. Lester Yen, and his wonderful nurse Joni. When I went to them I was afraid and embarrassed, I have never taken my shirt off in front of anyone but my husband, and here I was faced with any number of people actually measuring and photographing my old, but dear, breasts. Dr. Yen and Joni treated me as an old friend, and the situation became a job that we were all dedicated to. They furnished me with information, discussed options, and when we settled on a plan I knew what was before me, and that through it all they would be there with me.
I am happy to say, they are not only warm and comfortable friends, but as skilled as they are dedicated. My outcome has been praised by family, friends and other doctors! My oncologist repeatedly told me what a fine outcome I had, and told me has the experience to justify his opinion. Once another plastic surgeon saw my breasts and asked me questions, stating he would like to use the same techniques. Mostly though, it has made a difference in my self-esteem. When you go through all the things cancer, surgery, treatment, etc. entails, you could easily lose an essential part of yourself. Through the care I was given by Dr. Yen and Joni, I have come to a whole new phase of my life. A new freedom, (I never have to wear a bra) and a new sense of self that I could never have had if they hadn’t done the wonderful job they did. I thank them from the bottom of my heart, for giving me back my self esteem, for their kindness and for their skill. If I were to give anyone facing the diagnosis of breast cancer advice, I would say, “Don’t be afraid, you are in the best hands that you could ever hope for!” They are a shining light in their profession, and a gift to those of us facing a task we would never ask for. When you close your eyes before your surgery, their smiling faces are the last thing you see, and when you open them again with a new life before you, they are there again, smiling and encouraging you that everything will be alright. And guess what? It really will be. -Jeanne
Dear Dr. Yen, Joni, Joyce and staff,
Thank you for the wonderful care you have given me during this challenging time.
