About Michael Fazio, DO
Michael Fazio, DO joined The Iowa Clinic after spending six years as a staff radiologist in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and sixteen years in the U.S. Army. He believes the best medical care is offered through partnership with his patients in their healthcare in conjunction with a collaborative approach with many specialists, both of which The Iowa Clinic offers. Radiology is a challenging yet rewarding environment which Dr. Fazio enjoys most of all due to regular interactions with colleagues from many areas of healthcare to provide the best patient care possible.
Dr. Fazio is a native of Yorktown, New York. Prior to joining The Iowa Clinic, Dr. Fazio rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army holding various clinical, leadership and operational positions, most notably as the Deputy Chief of the Department of Radiology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he cared for members of Congress, the White House and foreign dignitaries. He is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He is a graduate of the Army Medical Command Officer Basic Course, the Combat Casualty Course and the AMEDD Captain’s Career Course. He has received many military awards and decorations including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Outside of work, he enjoys exercising, both running and cycling, evenings out at the movies and most of all spending time with his wife, Heather, and their five kids. He enjoys watching them participate in extracurricular activities, coaching and volunteering when he can.
