About David Christianson, MD
David Christianson, MD joined The Iowa Clinic Neurological & Spinal Surgery department for the opportunity to care for the people of Iowa in a supportive and collaborative environment across nearly all medical specialties. Dr. Christianson’s path to neurosurgery grew from a lifelong love of craftsmanship and problem-solving, from restoring antique cars to building cabinets and designing industrial automation systems. Neurosurgery allows him to combine these hands-on skills with critical thinking to help patients facing serious neurologic conditions.
Since completing his training at the University of Iowa, Dr. Christianson has found it most rewarding to help patients regain strength, reduce pain through spine surgery, and achieve life-changing improvements with functional procedures.
A New York native, Dr. Christianson is an inventor with several patents, enjoys designing mechanoelectrical devices in 3D modeling software, and is a former avid musician who has written and recorded over 100 songs. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. If he weren’t a provider, he might have been a landscaper, enjoying the tangible results of working outdoors.
