About Julia Gutsch, DO
Dr. Julia Gutsch is a hospitalist who joined The Iowa Clinic because of its strong sense of community and the support it provides physicians in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Dr. Gutsch chose hospital medicine because of the variety each day brings and the opportunity to care for patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. Her patient care philosophy centers on listening first and ensuring patients and their families understand what is happening throughout their hospitalization so they feel informed, supported, and confident in their care.
Dr. Gutsch earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University after graduating magna cum laude from Drake University with degrees in Chemistry and Politics. During medical school, she served as a teaching assistant for both Clinical Medicine and Osteopathic Manual Medicine courses.
Outside of work, Dr. Gutsch enjoys running, hiking, and planning new travel adventures with her husband and their two dogs. Originally from Philadelphia, she's also a devoted Eagles fan—go Birds!
