About Scott Hamling, MD
Scott Hamling, MD is a general surgeon at The Iowa Clinic with a special focus in breast cancer treatment. He discovered his passion for medicine early on, earning degrees in both biology and philosophy in college before pursuing a career in surgery. Drawn to general surgery for its wide scope of care, Dr. Hamling found his calling in breast surgery while training alongside a breast surgeon during his residency.
For Dr. Hamling, the most rewarding part of his work is helping patients navigate their breast cancer journey. Seeing those same patients return years later, living full, cancer-free lives, is what continues to inspire him.
Outside of work, Dr. Hamling enjoys spending time fishing and water skiing. A lifelong musician, he’s been playing drums since the age of eight and continues to perform with a local band.
