About Sowjanya Kapaganti, MD

Sowjanya Kapaganti, MD joined The Iowa Clinic Cardiology department after completing her cardiology fellowship at Creighton University. She previously trained in Internal Medicine at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in New Jersey and began her medical education in India, where she developed a strong foundation in both clinical medicine and community care. Dr. Kapaganti chose The Iowa Clinic for its reputation of high-quality, patient-centered care and its collaborative culture, which allows her to build lasting relationships with patients and their families. 

She chose cardiology because it uniquely blends lifesaving interventions with long-term prevention, giving her the opportunity to impact patients’ health in both critical moments and over the course of their lives. Dr. Kapaganti finds the most rewarding part of her work to be helping patients navigate their diagnoses, restore their health, and celebrate milestones in their recovery. She is especially fulfilled by the balance of guiding patients through urgent situations while also supporting them in making lifestyle changes for lifelong wellness.

Originally from India, Dr. Kapaganti enjoys traveling, fitness, and exploring coffee culture in her free time. She also has a creative side, with a passion for interior design projects that bring character and warmth to living spaces.
