- Why do I need a skincare regimen?
Bottom line…skincare matters for men. No matter what age you are, you can benefit from developing a skincare regimen for your skin. It will keep your skin looking better, fresher, and younger for longer — as well as ward off irreversible sun damage.
- What kinds of products do I need to use on my face and when?
To determine the best products or procedures for your skin, we encourage you to schedule a FREE skincare consultation performed by our licensed Aesthetician. They will be able to determine exactly which medical-grade products are right for you.
The Iowa Clinic Medical Spa uses Obagi® and Revision® skincare lines. Our staff encourages men to use at least a medical-grade cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. For additional anti-aging, hydration and overall healthier looking skin, a Vitamin-C and Retinol may also be recommended. A sample of a Men’s Skincare Regimen which includes five products are listed below Cleanser (AM/PM), SPF Moisturizer (AM), Moisturizer (PM), Vitamin-C (AM) and Retinoid (PM).

- Why can’t I just run to the store and get some moisturizer?
It is important that you use the best products for your skin and there are some major differences between medical-grade products and those found over-the-counter. Bottom-line is the quality and quantity of ingredients. Over-the-counter products are not held to the same standard that medical-grade products are. Medical-grade products are subjected to rigorous and extensive testing and clinical studies. Most over-the-counter skincare brands have no clinical studies or research behind them at ALL! Be safe and go with what’s been proven to work.
