Carole McClanahan is a board-certified dermatologist who joined The Iowa Clinic in 2026. She was drawn to the Clinic by its strong focus on exceptional patient care and a collegial, teamwork-oriented environment. Dr. McClanahan chose dermatology for its visual and highly detailed nature, as well as the opportunity to build long-term relationships with her patients and their families. She values caring for her patients over time and guiding them through different stages of their health journey.

Dr. McClanahan believes every patient is unique and takes time to understand their goals, concerns, and individual circumstances when developing treatment plans. By combining clear communication, education, empathy, and evidence-based medicine, she partners with patients to deliver care that is both medically sound and personally meaningful.

Outside of work, Dr. McClanahan enjoys spending time with her family, running, hiking, reading, and traveling.
