About Jun Xu, MD, PhD
Jun Xu, MD, PhD joined The Iowa Clinic after finishing both his residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain management at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was impressed with our strong primary care and experienced management team. It was also important for him to begin his practice with a group who provided high-standard patient-focused care.
Chronic pain is a unique challenge in healthcare due to its prevalence and resistance to traditional treatment approaches. However, it can negatively affect a patient’s life in so many aspects, including physically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Dr. Xu’s approach to caring for patients with long-term physical pain is to work towards getting back to normal life by using the most advanced and safest techniques and treatments available.
He is passionate about medical volunteer work, and in 2016 and 2018 he joined medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Colombia. Outside of work, he enjoys exercising and music.
