About Heather Back, DO
Iowa native Dr. Heather Back chose family medicine because primary care allows her to provide ongoing, comprehensive care to individuals of all ages including seeing family members across multiple generations. She is committed to professional development and training which allows her to best support her patients and their healthcare journeys.
She finished her residency in 2008 and practiced in Texas for five years before returning to Iowa. She then spent seven years at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset, Iowa where she served as the Chief of Medical Staff, P&T Committee Chair, Director of Cardiopulmonary Rehab Services and Medical Director of Urgent Care at the local hospital.
The Iowa Clinic was thrilled to welcome Dr. Back to our West Des Moines campus in fall 2022. Outside of the Clinic, Dr. Back is a busy wife and mother and jokes that she can often be seen “ubering” her four children to their nightly activities and spending quality time with them and her husband.
