Mary Cannon, ARNP joined The Iowa Clinic because of our reputation for excellent patient care and treating each patient as an individual.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Mary was a registered nurse for eight years working in various roles including medical surgery, cardiac telemetry, as well as in the ER. She is excited about the opportunity to join the Urology Department because she has a passion for helping others, building long-term relationships with her patients, and making them feel comfortable during their most vulnerable times. Her easy going and friendly personality makes patients feel at ease and confident that they are being given the best possible care in a welcoming environment.
Her love for animals and community involvement keeps her active in many organizations such as Beagle Freedom Project, Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Alzheimer’s Association, and Free Clinics of Iowa.
Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with her two boys, two beagles - Oscar and Lucy, and husband, who is a United States Marshal based here in Des Moines. She spends much of her free time doing “kid things” like reading at the library, swimming, or playing at the park. She also enjoys traveling and going on trips to new and exciting places, experiencing new foods, running, group exercise classes and most importantly, coffee!
