About Us

Our Foundation

We have a passion for projects that allow us to roll up our sleeves and get involved in a meaningful way.

Our Focus

Since 2004, The Iowa Clinic Healthcare Foundation has supported organizations whose missions align with our goals to support health, education, and community betterment while providing TIC employees with an opportunity to give back to their communities. We are so much more than a non-profit that writes checks — we have a passion for projects that allow us to roll up our sleeves and get involved in a meaningful way.

Des Moines Public Schools

The origin of the Foundation’s efforts, TIC providers and staff come together four times a year to support Des Moines Public School students who are interested in participating in extracurricular activities by offering free sports physicals at six metro schools. Since the program began in 2018, we have provided thousands of free physicals to student athletes. The Foundation also funds after school snacks for student athletes as apart of these efforts.

Each holiday season, TIC employees donate hygiene supplies and clothing during our annual Pack the Van event. All items donated go directly to DMPS students in need.

Free Clinics of Iowa/Clive Community Services

In addition to our sports physicals program, one of the first initiatives our Foundation supported was in partnership with Free Clinics of Iowa in 2004. Free Clinics of Iowa provides free healthcare to Iowans who are in between health insurance coverage because of a change in employment, eligible for health insurance but unable to afford it, homeless with no access to traditional healthcare, or are undocumented or unauthorized. Since then, Iowa Clinic volunteers have donated their dollars and time to build and renovate multiple free clinics in the Des Moines metro.

In 2023, we are going back to our roots and supporting the renovation of another Free Clinics of Iowa space. In partnership with Clive Community Services, Free Clinics of Iowa, and Ryan Company, The Iowa Clinic Healthcare Foundation is donating 87,000 to support the expansion of the Free Clinics of Iowa space located in Clive. Located in the Clive Community Services Space, this expanded clinic will offer a larger waiting area, additional exam spaces, as well as a large food pantry and clothing closet.

Children and Family Urban Movement (CFUM)

The Breakfast Club is CFUM’s year-round breakfast program for children, serving children during the school year as well as during the summer months. Every Thursday morning in March and November, TIC volunteers gather bright and early at CFUM to assist with cooking and serving breakfast, reading with students and participating in other activities as needed. These healthy interactions and safe environment offer a positive start to their learning day before the kids head off to Moulton Elementary. The Iowa Clinic Healthcare Foundation is proud to provide financial and hands-on support for this great organization.

Joppa

Joppa collaborates with community partners, assists homeless people to access existing resources, and mobilizes private donations from families, churches, and organizations to help meet unmet needs in homeless services, housing, and education. In addition to a financial commitment, TIC staff gathers close to the holidays to assemble Blessing Bags, which consist of hygiene products, water and winter gear.

Kick It Forward

Our largest contribution in 2022, The Iowa Clinic donated two mini-pitch systems at Harding Middle School, along with a multitude of soccer balls. This project highlighted a meaningful connection to the Foundation and the sports physicals program, which launched at Harding in 2018. For years to come, the students and community can enjoy the mini-pitches! The Foundation will continue to fund t-shirts for the annual Kick it Forward spring tournament as well as soccer balls to Harding as they kick off the new school year.

Food Bank of Iowa

Food insecurity is on the rise in Iowa, and food prices are higher than ever. The Food Bank of Iowa gathers and distributes more than 1.5 million pounds of food each month to 700 partners across 55 Iowa counties. TIC volunteers have continuously volunteered in April and September to support the Food Bank’s Backpack Program and hygiene kit initiatives.

Meals from the Heartland

Meals from the Heartland is an organization that packages meals for delivery to malnourished people in Iowa, across the United States, and across the world. In recent years, large numbers of TIC employees have shown their support for the meal packaging initiative hosted by Meals from the Heartland, with over 50 TIC team members volunteering in 2022.
